Chapter 20

It was all falling apart. Stone Kale watched the media frenzy on the mid-morning news and paced in front of the sixty-inch plasma screen. The perfectly coiffed newswoman smiled brilliantly while the scene behind her blazed with swirling lights atop dozens of police cars, creating a patriotic kaleidoscope.

It wasn't supposed to happen this way!

He was transfixed by the images on the screen. Almost like watching a movie.

"Early this morning, over two dozen Nevada State Police and FBI units converged on the Lincoln County Correctional Facility just outside of Caliente. You are watching a live feed of those proceedings. We are still trying to obtain information, but from what we have learned so far it appears as though Warden Gabe Garrett has been placed under arrest, along with most of his staff, for accepting bribes and for unlawful procedures occurring within the prison grounds. All of the inmates housed there are to be transported to other secure facilities until the extent of the infiltration into the prison system can be determined.

"WKYY news has also learned in an exclusive report that Montana Thomas, a life-long resident of Caliente accused of murder in the death of his girlfriend, Lindsay Keller, has been released and cleared of all charges. Evidence submitted by Mr. Thomas's lawyer, Damien Knight, proved without a doubt Mr. Thomas's innocence in this matter.
